VOLUNTEER CENTRE

Dear Colleague

Given the many recent changes to how we all operate this is a good time to look at how we can make the Forest of Dean an even better place to be a volunteer (and a volunteer manager!!) in the youth sector.

Examples of changes include :-

·        Increased unemployment - more volunteers of all ages and abilities

·        Reduced funding – likelihood of more involvement of volunteers

·        More contracts – more to do, less to do it with!

·        Safeguarding, eligibility criteria and other upcoming legislation

as well as the usual issues of recruitment, expenses, training, insurances etc

All of these and more will affect how you involve your volunteers.

Please accept this invitation to come along to the Training Room at the Belle Vue Centre, Cinderford on Monday March 26th from 6 - 8pm to share and learn.

Because of the timing of this session we will provide a full meal (Chinese Takeaway or Chip Shop special!!) and hot drinks from 6pm.

The outline programme for the evening will be to :-

- think about how we involve our volunteers at the moment

- look at some of the key current issues

- share ideas, think about best practice and identify priorities for the future

- look at best ways of achieving our goals

Please note that if you cannot make this meeting but feel you would still like to look at these issues then contact us and we will either set up a second session or do a

1- to -1 with you. All sessions are FREE.

Please call Tim Fretter on 01594 822073 to book your place or by email to volunteer@fvaf.org.uk  I look forward to meeting you on the evening.
